Sound Fitting The Bachmann MPV
This guide shows how to fit sound to the Bachmann MPV. There are two possible ways to do it, one requires soldering, one doesn't In our opinion the best way to do it is to put the speaker under the model, this requires the speaker wires to be fed through and soldered onto the PCB. Remove the 4 screws and unhook the coupling spring with tweezers to remove the cover. The speaker can be held in place with black tack. Feed the wires through the same slot that bachmann use for the other wires and solder them...
Hornby class 87 sound fitting guide
The Hornby 87 has surprisingly little space and its a model that people often ask about when they are fitting sound. Start by prising off the body, it has clips along the sides and comes off fairly easily. Take out the 2 screws holding the PCB so that you can get to underneath it. Even though Hornby provide space for a speaker at the opposite end to the socket, we dont recommend using it as its very restrictive, instead we use black tack to hold the speaker under the PCB, above the drive shaft, at the same end as the 8...
Fitting Sound To The Heljan PWM Shunter
Start by removing the two plastic parts which cover the screws. There are only 2 screws for the body, both at the front. The model has a next18 socket and a built in speaker enclosure. (We didn't use the enclosure). We used a 15x11 speaker with a self adhesive gasket and stuck it straight onto the flat part of the PCB to form an air tight seal. Heljan provide 2 speaker wires, these have to be soldered onto the speaker. We also took some detail out of the cab (a seat and a box) and fitted a stay alive. This...
Sound fitting the Hornby Dublo Flying Scotsman
Hornby have changed the design of the tender on the new Dublo model. it has a new connection which just pulls apart, and one screw under the coupling holds on the tender body. The tender weight has been redesigned and has a square hole in it, perfect for one of our 20x20x7 speakers. Position the decoder towards the back of the tender out of the way of the coal bunker. Find the decoder here.
Bachmann 105 'Cravens' Sound Fitting
We fitted sound and a stay alive to this Bachmann 105 Start by prising off the body with a prising tool. The Loksound 5 micro decoder fits neatly into the space provided, take care not to trap or kink the ribbon cable. The Train-o-matic SPP stay alive fits in the space behind the motor. A 26x14x7 speaker sits neatly behind the last row of seats and is well hidden once the body is back on. The dummy end also needs a decoder, any 8 pin decoder will do as it's only to operate the lights. The body comes off in...
