Fitting Sound To The Bachmann DP1
We had this fantastic Bachmann DP1 in for sound fitting. It has been fitted with a megabass speaker at each end and a stay alive. Start by removing 8 screws, we recommend using one of our magnetic tip screwdrivers. The speakers fit at each end behind the cabs. Use black tack to hold them in place. This model was also fitted with a stay alive, we used a Train-o-matic SPP. Find the decoder and speakers here.
Fitting Sound To The Accurascale MK5 Driving Trailer
Start by removing the body, there are no screws, it just clips along the edges. It may help to use guitar picks or a small prising tool. The model has a built in speaker so if you want the most simple install you can just fit the decoder and re fit the body. We wanted to improve the sound and reliability so also added a stay alive and an additional speaker. We can supply the decoder with the stay alive and speaker already connected. A train-o-matic SPP sits below the window line of the doors so is pretty well hidden...
Sound Fitting The EFE 143/144 Pacer
To fit sound to the EFE 143/144, start by removing the screw which holds the cover for the socket and remove the blanking plug. For the easiest install you can simply fit the decoder and use the built in speaker. You can improve the sound by adding a second speaker, we used a 26x11x4 which was sanded on both sides to make it thin enough to fit in the same space as the decoder. This was soldered to the same speaker connections as the built in speaker, which are next to the next18 socket. We also left the built in...
Heljan/EFE Class 58 Sound Fitting
Despite its narrow body, the Heljan 58 has plenty of space for sound with one or two speakers. Start by prising off the body, there are no screws, just clips that hold it to the chassis. To save trying to study photos of them later, make a mark on the chassis and body at one end so you get the body the right way when refitting it! Use black tack to hold the wires in place, there are little channels in the chassis where the wires should go but in most models they are just floating above the flywheel and...
Sound Fitting A Heljan Railbus
There's a few variatons of the Heljan Railbus so the method shown below does vary slightly, but they all come apart in a similar way. Start by removing the Horns and hadrails. Then prise the body upwards using a plastic tool so that you don't damage the paint. The decoder is under the pcb on top of the model, you need to remove two screws from the black plastic part which holds it to lift it off. Make sure no plugs come out of the board as they come out fairly easily. Place the speaker in the space between the...
