Bachmann Class 24 Sound Fitting Guide
The hardest part about fitting sound to the latest 24 is removing the screws which are hidden deep beneath the bogies. You can remove the built in speaker and fit a 20x20x7 megabass. This video explains the process and demonstrates the sound and speaker upgrade. The speaker is here. The sound decoder is here.
Bachmann Class 20, Sound Install And Speaker Upgrade
The video below explains our preferred method of fitting sound to the new Plux22 class 20's This is a video that has been requested by many. The class 20's come with a small sugarcube speaker pre fitted, but it's possible to fit two, much larger megabass speakers and make big improvements to the sound. The speakers used can be found here. The sound decoder can be found here (select the speakers as a £5 upgrade). The accessories used can be found here.
Dapol Class 59 Sound Fitting
If you are fitting sound to the class 59 you might find this guide useful. The sound decoder is easy to fit, start by prising off the body, there are no screws, just 4 clips. Some people have said the decoder doesn't fit, if this is the case, gently move the large black capacitor away from the centre of the PCB. On some models its been mounted slightly too far across. If you have one of the Yeoman models with the American style lights you might want to alter the wiring to allow both of the markers to come on...
ES1 Sound Fitting Guide
The ES1 is a nice model to fit sound to, start by removing the contact shoes, you can just prise them off gently using a prising tool or screwdriver, this gives easier access to the screws. The model uses a next18 decoder which fits in easily. There is a built in speaker but we recommend swapping the speaker driver for one of our 15x11 speakers, which is much louder and higher quality. No soldering is required. The installation and a video of the loco running with our sound is covered here Click here to buy the decoder and speaker.
Heljan/EFE Class 35 'Hymek' Sound
We fitted sound to this EFE (made by Heljan) Hymek using one of our 30x17x4mm speakers, this gives a great sound and is very easy to install. As with the 33, if there is a lot of metal behind the sockets under the speaker you may need to trim them a bit, this can be done with a pair of side cutters (image shows a 33). Find the sound decoder here and the tools here.
